  • 10/3: 11am

    • Very proud to share that we are now cast for A FEW GOOD MEN. Grateful to everyone who shared their time and work with us. Your efforts and talent do not go unnoticed or unappreciated

  • 9/2: 11:30am

    • HAIR 411:

      • Hair does NOT NEED TO BE CUT SHORT FOR THE AUDITION and facial hair does not need to be shaved. Haircuts and shaves AFTER you get the gig!

      • I asked for specifics re: "how short is short?" and this was the response from Casey:

        • I SUGGEST WE USE THE MOVIE AS OUR GUIDE. THE GITMO MARINES ARE BUZZ CUTS AND THE OTHERS ARE SHORT AND NEAT.

    • COVID PROTOCOL:

      • In response to many emails I've received and in effort to keep everyone safe, we are asking that everyone wear masks while in the lobby and until you audition. You are more than welcome to remove your mask when you read; the choice is yours.

  • 8/19: 6:40pm

    • Our male identifying actors will be asked to have their hair military short and be clean shaven. Please contact Julia if this is an issue.

  • 8/12: 5:15pm

    • VIDEO AUDITION: Please be sure to include a full body POV. These characters are in the Navy, so fitness (for all) is a factor.

  • LIVE AUDITIONS: PLEASE ALWAYS BRING YOUR HEADSHOT AND RESUME (Stapled please)

  • PLEASE BE CHECKING YOUR SPAM FOLDERS FOR EMAILS. Unfortunately, not everyone has been getting our emails, so check spam and then add us to your contact list. If you have an aol email address, more than likely, our emails will end up in your spam so please check there. Thank you!

  • There will be Equity and Non Equity Contracts

  • A gentle reminder that it is preferred that video auditions should be submitted via Eco Cast, but if this is not possible then submit directly (video@Florescasting.com) via Youtube, Vimeo or Dropbox. We delete any emails submitted with direct downloads or google links, etc. Please resubmit all information if you did not originally follow these guidelines.

  • Please let Casting know if you do not have local LA housing when you submit your video audition.

  • DIRECTOR REQUEST:

    • It's so wonderful to be in person with you all! A general note - I've noticed that after 2+ years of being mostly on camera, many actors have let their stage muscles slacken a bit. I'm talking about the size of your voice (both volume and placement) and the size of your bodies. Take up space. This is a play that relishes language and great story telling. Use your full instrument. And remember- La Mirada is a 1,251 seat theater and we need you to play to the last row.

VIDEO AUDITION CHECKLIST:

  • A gentle reminder that it is preferred that video auditions should be submitted via Eco Cast, but if this is not possible, then you may submit directly (video@Florescasting.com) via Youtube, Vimeo or Dropbox. We will not view auditions submitted with direct downloads or google links, etc.

  • If you are emailing your video audition, please include the role you're auditioning for in the subject line of the email and in the body of the ema

  • Include:

    • A full body view. You can introduce yourself or chat while you do this so it's not 100% awkward ;)

    • Requested audition material (see Dropbox link above)

    • Contact Sheet (see Dropbox link above)

    • Headshot and Resume (if not sent via Eco Cast)

BREAKDOWN and DIRECTOR'S NOTE:

DIRECTOR’S NOTE:

A FEW GOOD MEN takes place in a world governed by a rigid system - a patriarchy created by white men who value order, rank and obedience. The story of the play is watching that system be challenged and disrupted. The individual characters all live within that world; some of them embrace and defend its values, some challenge them and many others are just trying to get by. The play is a tightly woven and fast-paced narrative about confronting power and finding honor.

Nathan Jessep: 45-55. Character identifies as Male. A combat veteran whose star is on the rise. Values loyalty. Ambitious, articulate, and political. Fervent believer in a “traditional” idea of America.

Daniel Kaffee: 25-35. Character identifies as Male. Attended Harvard Law on a Navy scholarship. Son of a legendary, popular and politically connected Civil Rights lawyer. Not sure he measures up, but wants to. Smart, fast talker, charming.

JoAnne Galloway: 30-35. Character identifies as Female. A detail-oriented lawyer who lacks an eye for savvy courtroom tactics. Takes everything seriously. Making her way in a man’s world without losing her identity as a woman.

Matthew Markinson: 45-55. Character identifies as Male. Older than Jessep yet outranked by him. He spent 17 years as a counter-intelligence operative. Sees the injustice around him but feels powerless to change things.

Sam Weinberg: 30-35. Character identifies as Male. Career JAG attorney and close friend to Kaffee. Sam was always the smartest kid in the class. Not afraid to give voice to the play’s moral/ethical conflicts.

Jack Ross: 29-35. Character identifies as either Female or Male. Experienced and talented JAG attorney/prosecutor. Professional and detached, Ross knows how to try a good case. Follows orders and protocol but is clear regarding his/her own values.

Harold Dawson: 20’s. Character identifies as Male. A natural leader who values honor and personal integrity. He was held back from promotion after he defied Kendrick’s questionable disciplinary orders.

Loudon Downey: 20’s. Character identifies as Male. Doesn’t understand everything that goes on around him.  Almost alone in the world, except for Aunt Ginny who he doesn’t know well. Admires and depends on Dawson.

William Santiago: 20’s. Character identifies as Latinx, Afro-Latinx or AAPI Male. Wants to succeed but isn’t. Sensitive and intelligent. Also plays: Sentry and MP3

Jonathan Kendrick: 25-30. Character identifies as Male. Fervent Christian, believes in “family values” as defined by conservative evangelicals and fundamentalists. Probably abused as a kid. Lives by his unit’s code, “Unit, Corps, God, Country.”

Isaac Whitaker: 40-50. Character identifies as Male. A career JAG attorney and senior administrator who supervises young trial attorneys. Also plays Dr. Stone: Doctor stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Stoic. He doesn’t want to rock the boat. Indebted to and intimidated by Jessep.

Judge Randolph: 40-55. Character identifies as Female. Trial judge, tough but fair. Also plays: Lawyer #2: JAG Attorney who works alongside Kaffee & Sam

Corporal Jeffrey Owen Howard: 20’s. Character identifies as Male. Likable and friendly.

Hammaker 20’s. Character identifies as Male. Squad leader, RSC Windward. Also plays: MP2 and Orderly at Pentagon: Affable and eager to please.
