DATES:

1st rehearsal: 10/24  Open: 11/10  Closing: 12/3

The roles of Cynthia and Barry will start on 10/27

The roles of Carole, Gerry, Genie and Don will start 10/31

There will not be a performance on Thanksgiving, but there will be a performance on Wednesday, November 22 at 7:30pm.

CONTRACTS

  • Equity: $983/week

  • Non-union: $544/week (with EMC points)

 

REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE

Days and time are subject to change, but this is more than likely what our schedule will be:

 

REHEARSALS: La Mirada at the Rehearsal Hall (15519 Phoebe Avenue) 

Until tech week, rehearsals will be from either 11am-7pm or 12pm to 8pm Tuesday through Friday.
Rehearsals have been tentatively set for 10am to 6pm or 11am-7pm on the weekends


PERFORMANCES: Six show week: Thurs. at 7:30pm; Fridays at 8pm; Saturdays at 2pm & 8pm; Sundays (matinee and evening)

There will not be a performance on Thanksgiving, but there will be a performance on Wednesday, November 22 at 7:30pm.

WHO WILL BE THERE: Tom McCoy and Cathy Rigby (Producers), BT McNicholl (LMT Producer), David Ruttura (Director), Joyce Chittick (Assoc. SWING INFORMATION:

  • We will be hiring three non AEA offstage swings and will also be assigning understudy spots to some of the onstage actors

  • Understudies/Swings will only go on if someone is out sick.

  • Typically, Understudy/Swing rehearsals are scheduled on the first and second Thursdays after opening. 

  • Offstage Swings (there will be three) will be asked to come to the theatre for all performances and (as of now) you will be asked to stay for the duration of the show.

  • A gentle reminder that it is preferred that video auditions should be submitted via Eco Cast, but if this is not possible, then you may submit directly (Julia@Florescasting.com) via Youtube, Vimeo or Dropbox. We will not view auditions submitted with direct downloads or google links, etc.

BARRY MANN (25-32) Character identifies as White male. A songwriter who becomes romantically involved with Cynthia. He is good natured, appealing & neurotic. Ambitious, but likeable. Seeking a strong comedic actor with a great voice. Must be a strong high tenor comfortable with pop & rock style singing. C3-A4 - tenor


DON KIRSCHNER (35-48) Character identifies as White male. An influential music publisher and producer. He is a fast talking, energetic force of nature. Powerful, direct & sometimes intimidating, but he has a real affinity for his writers and artists. A hit maker. Seeking a strong actor. A2-C#4 - baritone


GENIE (40’s-50’s) Character identifies as White female. Carole’s mother. Once an aspiring playwright, she has been broken down by life & her husband’s infidelity. Protective of Carole and unforgiving of her husband’s mistakes. Seeking a strong actress, role does not need to sing.

 

THE SHIRELLES/ENSEMBLE (20's-30's) Black. Characters identify as Female. Seeking charismatic singers/actors/movers to portray multiple characters. LUCILLE – Don’s tough as nails secretary. SHIRLEY – a Shirelle who sings lead on “Will You Love Me Tomorrow”. LITTLE EVA – Carole’s babysitter, turned singing sensation of “The Locomotion”.  Bb3-E5 - mezzo/high belter. JANELLE WOODS – a gorgeous singer who sings lead on “One Fine Day”. Must be extremely strong singers and movers.  G#3-D5 - mezzo/belter

THE DRIFTERS/ENSEMBLE (20's-30's) Black. Characters identify as Male. Seeking charismatic singers/movers/actors to portray various roles, including THE DRIFTERS, who are featured in songs including “On Broadway”, “Up on the Roof” and “Some Kind of Wonderful”. Must be extremely strong singers and movers. High tenors & high baritones. Lead Drifter (Up On The Roof, Some Kind of Wonderful): B2-Ab4 or B4 full-voice, up to Eb5 strong falsetto - tenor with strong lower register, or Bari-tenor with extensive upper register

NICK/LOW RIGHTEOUS BROTHER/ENSEMBLE: (20's-30's) Character identifies as White Male. Seeking a strong singer/actor to play multiple roles. NICK – an attractive, friendly guitarist at the Bitter End. LOW RIGHTEOUS BROTHER (Bill Medley) – acts as half of the Righteous Brothers duo who sing “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” & others. Must be an excellent singer with low baritone/ bass notes.  F2-G4 - Bari-tenor. This role typically understudies GERRY GOFFIN

LOU ADLER/HIGH RIGHTEOUS BROTHER/ENSEMBLE (20's-30's) Character identifies as White Male. Seeking a strong singer/actor to play multiple roles. LOU ADLER – a genius music producer. HIGH RIGHTEOUS BROTHER (Bobby Hatfield) – acts as half of the Righteous Brothers duo who sing “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” & others. High pop/rock tenor. F3-Bb4 (strong falsetto up to F5) - high tenor. This role typically understudies BARRY MANN. 

BETTY/ENSEMBLE (20's-30's) Character identifies as Female. Seeking an extremely strong actor/singer to play BETTY – Carole’s appealing, perky best friend in high school. Mezzo/Soprano belt. Possible Carole King and Genie Klein understudy.
