  • GENERAL NOTES:

    • After 2+ years of being mostly on camera, many actors have let their stage muscles slacken a bit. I'm talking about the size of your voice (both volume and placement) and the size of your bodies. Take up space. Use your full instrument. And remember- La Mirada Theatre is a 1,251 seat theater and we need you to play to the last row.

    • Keep the style and the period of the piece in mind. Siam, early 1860's.

    • Think of this as a play with music. The story and the relationships are essential.

    • We will ask everyone to please wear a mask while in the lobby area and inside the audition room until you audition. You are more than welcome to keep your mask on throughout though if you feel more comfortable and/or have recently been sick or exposed to COVID.

A SPECIAL NOTE FOR PARENTS:

Dear Parents,

I would first like to express my appreciation (in advance) for sharing your time and your child's time with us. I am a Mom myself and I have first-hand knowledge of the juggling that needs to happen to make room for these "extra" activities. You have my promise that I will always keep you posted with any and all details (check back often) as we move forward and, more importantly, that I will always make this a safe and positive learning and artistic experience for your child.

I have been with Tom and Cathy McCoy for 28 years and there is no one I would entrust my children to more than The McCoys. From "Peter Pan" to "The Sound of Music", the children we have cast and their parents have enjoyed their experience 100%. Many of them are still close to us and one another.

And now I have TWO REQUESTS:

1) Please do not coach your child in any way. Feel free to run lines with them, but leave the creative choices up to them. I promise you that they will do better if they do less. I want to see their own choices without blocking (gestures, etc.) and without a slick performance. I want to see the real child always.

2) Please be sure to look over all of the PRODUCTION DETAILS and INFORMATION before you audition. Information is a two-way street; I will communicate with you and, in return, I expect you to communicate any issues or concerns ahead of time. No surprises please.

We pride ourselves on building a Family here are MRE and would be honored to welcome you to that family.

With appreciation,

Julia Flores
